Description
This gomasio recipe is a healthy addition to your food!
What is Gomasio recipe?
Gomasio is a tasty Japanese condiment consisting of toasted sesame seeds and sea salt. It adds a delicious flavour to dishes and is also an excellent source of nutrients. In this recipe, I have added flaxseeds, which have additional beneficial properties.
Benefits of flaxseeds
Flaxseeds are also an excellent addition to your diet, mainly because of their high content of omega-3 fatty acids, fibre and antioxidants. Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for your heart health, can reduce inflammation and promote good brain function. Fibre is crucial for healthy digestion and also helps you feel satiated for longer, which contributes to weight management.
Reduced salt consumption thanks to Gomasio
With gomasio, you add a lot of flavour to your meal, while at the same time reducing the use of salt.
Gomasio recipe with linseeds
Ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoons flaxseeds
- 1 teaspoon fleur de sel(or to taste)
Preparation:
- Toast the Sesame seeds and Linseeds: Heat a dry frying pan over medium-high heat. Then add the sesame seeds and flaxseeds and toast them, stirring regularly, until they are golden brown and start to smell (about 3-5 minutes). Be careful not to burn them!
- Grind the Mixture: Let the seeds cool slightly. Finally, put the roasted seeds together with the sea salt in a mortar or spice grinder. Then grind to a coarse powder. You can make it as fine or coarse as you like.
- Conservation: Store the gomasio in an airtight jar in a cool, dry place. This will thus keep the gomasio good for about 1 month.
Usage:
Sprinkle your homemade gomasio over salads, vegetables, rice dishes or soups for a delicious crunch and extra flavour. You can also use it as seasoning for avocado toast or in smoothies for a healthy kick!
