Le Grand Celièr

Le Grand Celièr offers the cuvée Marcelin Albert. This is a nod to the leader of the winegrowers' revolt in southern France in 1907. Wine growers in the region were furious about the low prices they were getting for their wine. While middlemen and merchants were making hefty profits. As a result, the wine growers felt exploited and wanted a fair price for their produce.

Marcelin Albert set up an association to represent the interests of winegrowers. And organised protests and strikes to strengthen their demands.

The winegrowers' revolt in southern France was ultimately successful. For the government promised reforms and the vintners got better prices for their products. The events of 1907 had a lasting impact on the French wine industry. Moreover, they are still seen as a milestone in the fight for the rights and interests of small farmers.
